Meaning and PlAY
When we met in class to discuss Daniel Pink, I was sure I was an advocate for the "play" group... While I still feel that play is one of the most important part of life, it was so informative to talk to my classmates about Meaning! Our conversation flowed so easily as we discussed what our purpose in life is, and how important it is to reflect on who we truly are! Through our talks, it seemed clear to me that I need many components of what Daniel Pink discussed to find true meaning in my life. It brought me back to my original thoughts of "Play" In order to find true happiness and meaning in my life I need to play! I need to spend time with those that I love- My Fiance, my family, my friends, my students! My time and FUN with them is really what gives my life meaning!

Wow, I didn't know anyone else was doing play! I totally agree that all the senses depend upon one another. Meaningful play is how kids learn. I think that play is essential to children and it is apart of everything that they do and we as adults have to learn to incorperate play into their days more.
I agree like all of the senses they blend together. Meaning and play I live in everyday with my 4 and almost 6 year old. They learn best through play and it gives it more meaning to them and makes them want to continue learning. All teachers should make more meaningful play so our kids will prosper and become life long learners!!
Yes, I agree!! I also believe that as educators, we need to put meaning into our curriculum and topics we are teaching. If we don't mean what we say, how could the kids believe us?? We as educators need to be sure we are genuine and put forth meaningful lesson!!!
Isn't it amazing that it is the simplest things in life that truly give us meaning? Life’s meaning should not be about the clothes we have, the cars we drive, or the money in our bank accounts. It is about being true to oneself. I loved the quote on page 225 in Daniel Pink's book that states, "You're not going to find the meaning of life hidden under a rock written by someone else. You'll only find it by giving meaning to life from inside yourself." How true this statement is. Each individual needs to beat to their own drum follow their own heart, live by their own personal values, and by doing that they will be creating their own meaning in life and not those of someone else's.
